Our Global Mission and Community

Our church was founded by a dedicated missionary named Juan León Lugo. Together with Salomón Feliciano and his wife, Dionisia, they held the very first Pentecostal service in Ponce, Puerto Rico, on November 3, 1916. This historic event took place at the corner of Intendente Ramírez and Acueducto streets.

In 1917, the Feliciano couple became the church’s first missionaries, embarking on their mission to the Dominican Republic. A significant milestone for the church came on February 13, 1922, when it officially incorporated with the Government of Puerto Rico, receiving incorporation number 256.

By 1928, Brother Tomás Álvarez extended the church’s mission to the United States, establishing a ministry in New York. In 1937, Brother Francisco Rodríguez took the gospel to Cuba, and by 1945, Juan Rodríguez began evangelizing in the Virgin Islands.

On July 17, 1948, the Missionary Society was founded at the IDPMI in Sabana Seca, Bayamón, Puerto Rico. A year later, in 1949, during a conference held at the "La Perla" Theater in Ponce, a resolution was passed to create a Foreign Missions Department. This initiative was led by pastors Elías Chamorro, Mario Vega, Francisco Báez, and missionary Matilde Román.
